This is a day of rest for Linda and I, a chance to
just visit family and relax. For those who are interested in the
motorcycle ride you might as well just skip this page altogether.
After sleeping in this morning, we took Jordan, our grand daughter,
down to the local swimming pool. Highlands Ranch is a relatively
new community, south of Denver. The developers had a 17-year plan
for building and growth of this subdivision, and they are well ahead
of schedule. There are now about 65,000 people, several high school,
junior high school, and elementary schools in this development and
even though it isn’t an incorporated city, they will either soon become
one, or be absorbed into the city of Littleton, directly to the north
of them. For the last several years, Highlands Ranch in Douglas County,
has been the fastest growing County in the state of Colorado.
As part of this community, the developers have built several Recreation
Centers with pools, exercise equipment, and meeting spaces. That’s
were we took Jordan so she could go swimming and Grandpa could take
some pictures (photos 1, 2, 3, & 4)
Later that afternoon, we decided to go into Denver to visit two of
my favorite places, the Tattered Cover Book Store and The Cheesecake
Factory. I was able to find a motorcycle book that I had been looking
for called Purple Mountains about a fellow who rides around the United
States for three months. Now why do you think that would interest
me? I also picked up some magazines on digital photography, another
new interest of mine.
The Cheesecake factory actually has good food in spite of the fact
that they specialize in desserts. Tim, Peggy’s brother joined us,
since he was in town at a conference. Both of these places are located
in a revitalized downtown area of Denver, and a nice job they’ve done
of it too. Other cities may want to take a look. Down 16th Ave. free
public transit runs back and forth giving access to the businesses
without your having to move your car in order to see all there is
to see because it’s too far to walk. We all enjoyed our meals but
Jordan really seemed to be getting into her pasta (photos 5, 6,
7 & 8). Home to bed because tomorrow we leave. |
